While there is no way for us to ensure your safety at any events, there are times when an event host / an event comes into question. We believe in consent, and consent culture, here at S.P., and we take it very seriously. We also believe in the freedom to pursue consensual non-consent, and other more risqué sexual pursuits, which can make the matter of perceived safety – and actual safety – a little tricky.
As such, here is how we handle safety accusations & complaints:
⊗ BLACK LISTING – If we have 2+ first person allegations of sexual predation, abuse, assault, rape, neglect, or other safety concerns, the event / host / venue will be placed on our black list. While we cannot publicly display the black list for legal reasons, we will never promote the event / host / venue again.
⊗ WATCH LISTING – If there is a serious complaint made against an event / host / venue, we will mark them as being on our watch list. Every event that applies will be marked as such, and you can decide whether or not you wish to attend. We cannot guarantee safety for ANY event, but if you are forewarned, you are forearmed.
⊗ The watch list warning on event listings will appear as follows:
⊗ Please be advised that safety complaints have been made against this (event / host / featured guest / venue) under the category of (by-law infringement, venue safety, host’s reputation as being unsafe, guest’s reputation as being unsafe, equipment safety, food safety, racism, transphobia, etc). We can neither confirm nor deny the complaint in question, but are providing this information for you to make an informed decision as to whether or not you wish to attend.
