We’re pretty excited about our new calendar, and we’re sure you will be too!
Whether you’re brand new to our calendar — (or you’re learning how to use our new calendar) — here’s what you need to know, to find what you need &/or desire!
➡ Questions are in red.
➡ Answers are in black.
➡ Key points are in S.P.’s signature colour (a slightly purple blue)
HOW CAN I SEE A PREVIEW OF AN EVENT?
Unlike our previous calendar, now – when you hover over the event name – a preview window appears beside your cursor. As pictured here >>
HOW CAN I ACCESS THE EVENT’s FULL INFO?
The preview window’s listing is incomplete (of course), so if you want the full details for the event, then you need to click the preview (or the event name), and you’ll be redirected to the full event listing page.
WHAT ARE THE COLOURED DOTS ALL ABOUT?
When you open an event preview window, there are dots that appear in the upper right hand corner. If you hover over them, a tiny window will pop up – showing you what category the coloured dot represents. What this enables us to do, is communicate with you (at a glance) about whether this particular event is what you’re looking for.
FOR EXAMPLE: If we’re posting an event that’s a kinky bellydance class (not that we’ve ever seen one!), it would be in the categories Workshops + Seminars + Classes AND Kink AND Burlesque + GoGo + Bellydance.
What this all means, is that you can not only check the categories of the event in question in the preview, you can also FIND the event in all those categories when you do a category search. Which means that you have even greater odds of finding everything that you’re interested in!
PLEASE NOTE: The real pop up boxes aren’t coloured, they’re in plain text only.
We coloured the category box in the picture, for you to see it with greater ease.
WHY CAN’T I SEE THE END TIME & LOCATION?
The end time is never included in the preview screen, and neither is the location. (To find those pieces of information, you need to click the preview or event name, and view the full event listing page.
The exception to this, is if the event id an all-day event. That will be listed, as pictured here >>
HOW CAN I FIND SPECIFIC KINDS OF EVENTS?
If you’re only interested in specific events, you can select them from the categories menu, (that drops down when you hover over it. They appear in alphabetical order, so scroll down to find your interests.
NEW >> You can now select multiple categories at the same time, so you don’t have to do separate searches if you have more than one interest. Choose everything you like, and create your OWN calendar!
CAN I FIND EVENTS THAT SERVE ME, SPECIFICALLY?
ie: City | LGBTQ+ | Inclusive | etc…
Why yes, yes you can! Located beside the Categories feature, you will find another (brand new) feature > Tags. If you hover over it, another drop down menu will appear. In it, you will find all of the cities for which events have been entered into the calendar. You’ll also find special interest groups, and important qualifiers for accessibility. What this means is that you can further refine your events search.
For example: If you’re interested in [free] events for [lesbian] [women], select those three tags, and the calendar will display ONLY those items!
